To help promote three new special exhibitions at the Indiana State Museum, we developed an out-of-home campaign for the Indy Metro area. Considering the scope and scale of these three exhibits, they were three important stories to share.

Inside Vintage Vision, visitors were invited to go car crazy. The exhibit featured a one-of-a-kind collection of vintage automobiles on loan from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway paired with historic fashion from the Museum’s costume and clothing collection. Visitors could even dress up as a classic hood ornament for a unique photo op!

In Influencing Lincoln, visitors discovered the power of a dressmaker’s needle, a valet’s voice, and a preacher’s pulpit. The powerful exhibit celebrated the unsung heroes of the 19th century Black community who used their resources and connections in powerful ways to help pave their own path to freedom. With priceless artifacts and a trove of historic documents (like the Emancipation Proclamation!), “Influencing Lincoln” told another side of the story about the people who helped shift President Lincoln’s attitudes (and actions) regarding freedom for Black Americans.

In Inspired by the Dunes: Paintings by Frank V. Dudley visitors were carried away by one artist’s fight to preserve the Indiana Dunes, eventually paving the way for the birth of Indiana’s only National Park. With inspirational oil paintings, interactives, and artifacts, this exhibit showcased the power of art to impact change — by making sure some things don’t change at all.
