Sure, kids need structure. But we think it’s difficult to overstate the value of good, old-fashioned play. It’s one of the reasons we have a tough time calling Conner Prairie a museum. When kids come to Conner Prairie, they have space to run, play and uncover something new. We call it “having a little room to WHOA!” Spanning four unique campaigns, our radio strategy was designed to communicate Conner Prairie’s unique offerings with an authentic approach that packed an emotional punch.

VO (Emotional, hushed): Inside every kid . . . there is curiosity. It’s how we discover new things. We explore and play. We use our imaginations. When I go to Conner Prairie, there’s room to grow, and fresh air to breathe. I can play freely, and do so much more. There’s space to explore and uncover new things. At Conner Prairie, I can be anything. Here, I can get up close to rare breed animals. My little brother and I can climb to the top of a giant treehouse. And my entire family gets to explore wide open acres of land. The past, present and future are alive with excitement. There are scientific discoveries to be made, and crafts to create. Best of all, there’s room for everyone. Visit Conner Prairie dot org to learn more. Outdoor areas open March 28. Welcome to Wanderland.

ANNCR: Today I’m here at Conner Prairie, attempting to capture rare moments in nature. Shhhhh . . . if you’re very quiet, you can look up and see two of my children happily playing together at the highest level of the brand new Treetop Outpost. Look closely and you’ll notice grandma and grandpa digging in the dirt — all of this after they got splashed with water in the River Crossing play area, and laughed about it. Over your shoulder, you’ll see that my son has talked his dad into going up in a tethered balloon. This is a man who doesn’t even like looking down from our back deck. Notice the sounds all around us. I haven’t heard anyone say, “I’M BORED.” This. Wow! This is truly rare.

ANNCR: New post: outdoor fun for everyone. Hello blogger friends, I’m looking for fun things to do outdoors with the kiddos. Any suggestions?

ANNCR: Oooh a comment! Brenda asks: have you thought about Curiosity Fair at Conner Prairie? Our whole family loves it. Hmm, how did she respond so quickly?!?!

ANNCR: Tom says: a second vote for Curiosity Fair. Kids play, create and investigate the world around them. You can see dogs performing tricks, shake hands with a robot, learn how ice cream is made, and so much more. Huh, these people are fast!

ANNCR: Ann said: Curiosity Fair, followed by emoji smiley face, smiley face, magnifying glass, surprise face, robot, tree, dog, smiling baby, sunshine — didn’t even know there were that many options.
SFX: Ding, ding, ding
ANNCR: Well, I guess the votes are in. We’re going to Curiosity Fair, June 11 and 12th. Only at Conner Prairie. Dreams are born at Conner Prairie.

ANNCR: You know, last week I took Olivia and Charlie to Conner Prairie. That place has changed so much since I was a kid! None of us wanted to leave.
It was so fun to watch them imagine all the great things they could be when they grow up. Livvie decided she wants to be a pilot, and she kept asking to take one more trip on the new 1859 Balloon Voyage. Charlie lived his veterinarian dream as he grabbed my hand and led me to the Animal Encounters barn.
Heck, even MY imagination was sparked. I was right there with them, playing dress up, patenting my own invention, and leading the charge in Civil War Journey.
After a full day of strolling, petting, exploring, weaving, and forging our way through the Prairie, the kids couldn’t wait to help me like, share, tweet, tag and post all about our big day. I can’t wait…I mean we can’t wait to go back for our next visit. Dreams are born at Conner Prairie.

ANNCR: In our household technology is important. I love updating my blog and I’d be lost without my calendar app. The kids love to play games, and message with friends . .. after homework and house chores are finished. Technology has a place, but it can’t take us every place. That’s why I’m so excited about Treetop Outpost at Conner Prairie. Treetop Outpost is a brand new outdoor space where kids can play freely and dig into the dirt. There’s a gigantic treehouse and fun areas for exploring, building and even playing songs on outdoor instruments. It’s a place where our family unplugs from the cloud so we can play . . . under the clouds. A place where a game of tag is so much better than being tagged in a photo. It captivates my kids’ imaginations in a way no touchscreen gadget ever could. There’s no other place like it central Indiana. Treetop Outpost is open now and it’s only Conner Prairie. Dreams are Born at Conner Prairie.

KID: Step right up, m’am! To your left, you’ll experience Indiana’s inventiveness in the one and only Create Connect!
MOM: Ooh, let’s play there!
KID: Then, right through those doors you’ll step into a tethered balloon and soaaaaaar above the Prairie in the high flying new 1859 Balloon Voyage.
MOM: I wanna do that. Let’s go flying!
KID: Don’t forget to skeedaddle across the covered bridge and climb aboard the Alice Dean steamboat. You can splash, play and even fire a water cannon!
MOM: A covered bridge, a splash pad?!?!?! Can’t we please go there first?
KID: We’re going to see it all, Mom! At Conner Prairie, there’s whole worlds to discover!
ANNCR: When families come to Conner Prairie, kids take over and everybody becomes a kid — no matter how old or young you are, the Prairie is full of imagination driven adventures that are just waiting for you. Who will you be today? What will you become tomorrow? Dreams are born at Conner Prairie.
